How to Experience Exercise Fireworks

exercise Nov 05, 2021

The most effective fitness routine is the one you stick to. So learning to enjoy exercise is important for lifelong health.

That’s why we put so much research, time and effort into making Goodnick exercises fun! We believe life is for living, and we want to help you make the most of it…

…but we’re also realists. We understand that sometimes it’s difficult to find the motivation to exercise, even though we know about all the wonderful benefits it gives us!

So with autumn well and truly here, we’ve prepared a quick guide to giving yourself a motivational boost when you need it…

1. Adjust your exercise beliefs

Want to learn how to enjoy exercise? It all starts with examining your thoughts, and replacing negative beliefs with empowering ones. Many of your beliefs were set in childhood. If you participated in boring P.E. classes, frosty hocky pitches or were forced to run around a muddy cross-country track, you might have developed the belief that exercise was something to be endured instead of enjoyed.

But the good news is, your school days are over. So now you can change the way you think about exercise. You have the power to choose how you stay fit! So if you never want to do cross country…great! If you never want to set foot in a gym…perfect!

No matter what you fancy, there’s a way for everyone to keep active…just make sure you choose something you enjoy!

2. Give yourself an energy boost

A rocket can’t shoot into the sky without a bit of fuel (or gunpower), and it’s the same for you and exercise: You need to give yourself an energy boost.

After all, learning how to enjoy exercise can feel like a daunting task when you barely have enough energy to get through your normal daily schedule or if you have aches and pains.

Energy comes from a healthy balanced diet (everything in moderation!), plenty of water, the right supplements and minerals…but it’s also about wellbeing and lifestyle.

Stress and a lack of self-care can drain your energy, so make sure you’re looking after yourself. When we have a lot on our plates, exercise can be the best thing for us…but the last thing on our minds. So make sure you have a balanced lifestyle to lighten the load!

3. Change your Focus

Many people have trouble learning how to enjoy exercise out because they are focusing on only one outcome: Weight loss.

But when you tell yourself you ‘should’ exercise because you ‘should’ lose weight, it starts to feel like an obligation…and that isn’t very fun!

When you start focusing on energising your body, improving your health and enhancing your life, you can view exercise as a healthy decision instead of a chore. From here, fitness becomes a natural extension of taking care of yourself.

Believe it or not, thinking this way can also help you learn how to enjoy working out at home: when you are exercising for yourself and not for others, it’s much easier to feel motivated.

4. It’s about time

You can’t learn how to enjoy exercise if you feel rushed or that you’re sacrificing other parts of your life to squeeze in a workout.

Maybe you always want to do a bit more exercise, but a hectic social life gets in the way. Or you feel you want to make time for fitness, but before you know it, you realise you’ve been too busy!

Or perhaps you feel if you don’t have time to exercise in the morning then you might as well not bother – but this isn’t true. While morning workouts are energising and set a great tone for the rest of your day, working out at any time is better than not working out at all.

That’s why Goodnick workouts are short and sweet, and are designed to be done at any time of day. Besides, you’ll be having so much fun you won’t even notice the time!

5. Find the right type of exercise

To truly experience exercise fireworks, it’s about finding the right type of exercise for you.

The secret here is that many people avoid exercise because they think it must take place in a gym, or that you need to be running around in circles, sweaty and out of breath.

But that isn’t the case! Any type of physical activity that elevates your heart rate is a form of exercise. When you find an activity that makes you happy, you’ll look forward to it instead of avoiding it.

That’s why Goodnick exercises are designed to give your body the exact amount of fitness, strength and flexibility…and the maximum amount of fun.

Plus, our Goodnickers get all the benefits of being part of a like-minded, sociable group…but they still exercise in the privacy of their own home, at their own pace, in their own time.

That’s an exercise win-win! So if you’re ever feeling like your exercise plans are a bit of a washout, remember that with Goodnick we can help you let the sparks fly again!
